The Need:

The Philippines is home to more than 100 million people who live spread throughout the 7,000 islands. Filipinos are hospitable, friendly, and very open to the gospel. There are between 120-170 different languages spoken in the Philippines, but the national language is Tagalog. Due to the many different dialects, and the American influence on the nation’s history, English is widely spoken and understood. This makes it advantageous for short term missionary teams to minster. There is very little need for a translator in most areas.

Under Spanish rule for 400 years, much of the population was converted to Roman Catholicism. There is about an 80-85% Roman Catholic population with only 1.8% Protestant Christians. The Roman Catholic population is caught up in tradition which is closely intermingled with local spiritism beliefs. There is a spiritual hunger for the Word of God and to know Jesus personally.

The Philippines has a high poverty rate and life is challenging for many of the people. Added to that, many of the people are in spiritual darkness. A trip to the Philippines will transform your worldview and change your life, but it will also change the lives of the people you come into contact with. There is nothing more rewarding and life-changing than a short term mission trip in the Philippines.  Are you ready to JUST GO?
